A Milestone Moment
In December 2025, º£½ÇÔÚÏß celebrated a milestone moment for 23 graduating BSN students during a heartfelt Pinning and Awards ceremony. The event opened with a moving invocation by Ian DaSilva, followed by inspiring remarks from Provost Dr. Stephen Johnson that set the tone for reflection and professional pride. Throughout the night, several students were recognized for their exceptional contributions and skill. The prestigious Lassiter Awards were presented to Kate Alexander for Servant Leadership, Anna Katz for Academic Excellence, Noelle Eberly for Community Service, and Nicola Billows for Clinical Excellence. Additionally, Hunter Bhagwandeen received the Orlando Award and delivered a powerful address as the student speaker, while the esteemed Outstanding Graduate Award was presented to Margaret Myskowski.
The ceremony also featured a bridge to the profession through words of wisdom from alumni speaker Dr. Dustin Magdales ’15, ’19, ’21, who returned to inspire the next generation of caregivers. A central highlight of the evening was the presentation of nursing pins to each graduate by Dean Dr. Kimberly Fenstermacher, symbolizing their transition from students to colleagues. The evening reached its emotional peak as the graduates recited the Nurse’s Pledge and held aloft their lit Nightingale lamps. This beautiful tradition concluded with a stirring rendition of “Go Light Your World” by vocalist Payton Hardesty, accompanied by Elijah Castle on the piano, sending the new nurses into the world with a call to serve.
Our Spring Pinning Ceremony will take place May 8, 2026 at 9 a.m. in the DeSantis Chapel.
The pinning ceremony for the Orlando campus was also held in December, with 9 students celebrating their achievements. Sarah Redd received the Orlando Award, and Andrea Garcia received the award for Outstanding Grad.
