Biography
Dr. Nathan Lauffer works in contemporary epistemology. He also has strong research and instructional interests in philosophy of religion, applied ethics (especially ethics of A.I.), philosophy of language, and logic. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from Northwestern University. He also holds an MA in Philosophy from Western Michigan University and a BA in Philosophy from Biola University. Prior to joining º£½ÇÔÚÏß, he taught at the University of Maryland, College Park and Metropolitan State University of Denver.
His research has appeared in journals such as Philosophical Studies, Thought, Synthese, and Acta Analytica. His work aims not only to advance contemporary debates in epistemology but also to illuminate how careful thinking can serve the intellectual and spiritual life of the Christian community.
Nathan’s interest in philosophy is deeply connected to his Christian formation. Born in Israel and raised there as a missionary kid until his early adolescence, he grew up in the Christian and Missionary Alliance. His time at Biola University was especially formative, where he developed a vision for philosophy as a tool for helping Christians think clearly and faithfully about issues that matter most. Alongside his academic work, he has consistently served in local churches through teaching and leadership, including offering instruction in apologetics at churches and partnering with campus ministries such as InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
In addition to his academic and church involvement, Nathan is excited to be living in South Florida and to begin this next chapter of life with his wife, Nikki.
