Biography

Barbara VanderWerf came to º£½ÇÔÚÏß in October 2006 as a member of the administrative staff. She joined the Rinker College of Business as an adjunct professor of business and management in 2014 and transitioned to full-time faculty in 2015. She currently teaches management, leadership and ethics, and financial literacy courses and is an expert in online course development.

Prior to joining the º£½ÇÔÚÏß community, Professor VanderWerf worked in the marketing department at IBM before exiting the workforce to raise her three children, who are all º£½ÇÔÚÏß graduates. She attended Moody Bible Institute, majoring in Christian education, and completed her education at º£½ÇÔÚÏß, earning a master’s degree in business administration.

Professor VanderWerf is the inaugural director of the Center for Financial Literacy. One of her passions is to help students understand personal finance and practical money management in order to live a life of financial freedom. In addition to her roles at º£½ÇÔÚÏß, she has a private financial coaching business and facilitates financial literacy classes at her church. Barbara loves spending time with her grandchildren and going on long walks with her rescue dog, Abbey.
